The project seeks to understand Tonga indigenous practices that can enhance literacy learning among primary school children in Zambia. It will focus on collecting data on indigenous folktales and games that are familiar to the Tonga people using interviews and sharing circles (an indigenous form of focus group discussions). The data collection will begin on the 1st of May 2023.
Application deadline 9th April 2023.
Main Tasks of Research Assistant
- Organizing community members to participate in interviews and sharing circles.
- Facilitating during data collection such as preparing and arranging rooms for the interviews and sharing circles.
- Transcribing the audio recorded data.
- The research assistant will not conduct any interviews or any data collection.
Renumeration
K116 PER DAY FOR 30 DAYS excluding Saturdays and Sundays.
Requirements
- Must be fluent in Tonga.
- Must be familiar with Tonga cultural practices.
- Must be willing to facilitate in data collection in a remote area.
- Knowledge on qualitative data collection methods with a bias in focus group discussions.
- Experience will be an added advantage though not required.
- Must not be above 35 years old.
- Students will be preferable but not a requirement.
- Must have accommodation in Kalomo.
