JOB PURPOSE

The overall purpose of the role is to be part of the mining department and manage the company’s fleet of heavy equipment machinery and light vehicles.

RESPONSBILITIES

The responsibilities in this role include the following: –

a) Manage, organize and efficiently control a large size automobile and mechanical workshop.

b) Hands-on supervision of all workshop activities.

c) Plan and organize a Preventive Maintenance System and scheduled maintenance of Heavy Equipment Machinery and Light Motor Vehicles.

d) Forecast and order spare parts for specific jobs/special jobs or for stocks replenishment.

e) Perform trouble-shooting and diagnostics procedures on Light vehicles and Heavy Equipment Machinery.

PROFESSIONL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Qualifications

i) Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent

i) A minimum Degree in Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent

ii) Relevant post-graduation qualifications are added advantage.

Experience

i) At least 8- 10 years post qualifying experience in automobile workshops.

ii) Experience in a mining company will be an added advantage.

iii) Must be computer literate.

iv) Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).

Knowledge and Attributes

i) Good mechanical engineering skills

ii) Good written and verbal communication skills

iii) Ability to troubleshoot.
