JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: HR Intern

Department/Unit: Human Resources- Operations

Location: Lusaka, Zambia

Duration: 3 months Internship (90days)

Reports to: Human Resources Specialist

Organization Background:

The USAID Zambia Accessible Markets for Health (ZAM-Health) Activity is a five-year project to expand the availability and accessibility of high-quality health products and services in the private sector, improve health knowledge, and increase the adoption of healthy and health-seeking behaviours. The program will employ private sector approaches such as marketing, social franchising, and partnerships with for-profit entities to achieve these outcomes. USAID ZAM-Health is implemented by John Snow Health Zambia (JSH) in partnership with JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI), Media 365 and PharmAccess.

Position Description:

The Human Resources Intern will report to the Human Resources Specialist.

Duties:

• Assists with opening recruitment files
• Assists with contacting shortlisted candidates and arranging for virtual and in-person interviews
• Assist to maintain HR records through a documented filing system based on “easy to retrieve” principle.
• Responsible for updating, and reconciling all staff records/bills for Medical insurance, GLA, GPA and Workmen’s compensation.
• Files all HR compliance reports.
• Assists with consultant contract template preparations, consultant timesheets and monthly payment processing with Finance.
• Facilitates for sign off of exit checklist by Supervisor, IT and other departments for employees leaving the organization.

Qualifications:

•  Diploma/Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or Public Administration.
• English speaking and writing skills.
• Ability to take instructions, good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
