Chef and Receptionist

We are looking for a Chef to join our team and prepare delicious meals for our customers.

Chef responsibilities shall include studying recipes, setting up menus and preparing high-quality dishes. You should be familiar with sanitation regulations.

Ultimately, you’ll prepare and deliver a complete menu that delights our guests.

Responsibilities

1. Set up the kitchen with cooking utensils and equipment, like knives, pans and kitchen scales

2. Study each recipe and gather all necessary ingredients

3. Cook food in a timely manner

4. Inform staff about daily specials

5. Ensure appealing plate presentation

6. Slightly modify recipes to meet customers’ needs and requests (e.g. reduce salt, remove dairy)

7. Monitor food stock and place orders

8. Check freshness of food and discard out-of-date items

9. Experiment with recipes and suggest new ingredients

10. Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area

Requirements and skills

1. Culinary Diploma or any related qualification

2. Leadership skills

3. Ability to remain calm and undertake various tasks

4. Excellent time management abilities

5. Up-to-date knowledge of cooking techniques and recipes

6. Familiarity with sanitation regulations

7. Willing to relocate


Position: Receptionist 

Sioma Country Lodge is now recruiting a Front Desk Receptionist. This position is responsible for welcoming guests and acting as their first point of contact. This position is responsible for providing information and advice to guests and act as ambassadors for the lodge. This position is also responsible for managing the check-in and check-out process, answering questions and requests, and helping with administrative tasks such as filing and photocopying

Main responsibilities

  • Welcoming guests and checking their details against their bookings.
  • Perform all check-in and check-out tasks.
  • Manage online and phone reservations.
  • Answering phones and emails from prospective customers and guests, taking messages, and delivering them to various departments.
  • Inform guests about payment methods and verify their credit card data.
  • Provide information about our hotel, available rooms, rates, local amenities, and attractions.
  • Respond to guests’ complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Liaise with our housekeeping staff to ensure all rooms are clean, tidy, and fully furnished to accommodate guests’ needs.
  • Confirm group reservations and arrange personalized services for VIP guests.
  • Upsell additional facilities and services, when appropriate.
  • Maintain updated records of bookings and payments.
  • Ensuring guest satisfaction and maintaining a guest feedback mechanism.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by the Front Desk Manager.

Basic Requirements

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Minimum of a Certificate in Front Office Management/Hotel Management.
  • Must have 2-3 years of experience in a similar /related position preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Understanding of how travel planning websites operate, like Booking and TripAdvisor.
  • Flexibility and the ability to respond appropriately to changing situations.
  • The ability to maintain professional standards under pressure.
  • Positive attitude, Discretion, and sensitivity
  • User level computer skills.
  • A high standard of personal presentation
