EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Scaw Limited is a Copperbelt-based manufacturing Company specialized in the manufacturing of grinding media, castings products and industrial oxygen and acetylene, that was established in 1960.

The Company seeks to employ suitably qualified, experienced and result oriented individuals to fill up the following positions on a two-year contract renewable depending on individual performance:-

1.    MACHINIST (2)

Job Purpose

To effectively and efficiently perform mechanical workshop machining jobs for Scaw limited and for external customers.

Duties and Responsibilities;

  • Receives daily works schedules in form of works orders or defects dockets on machining works to be done during the day/ week.
  • Interprets engineering drawings and samples to come up with tools and materials needed to perform the required task.
  • Manufacturers, repairs components and spare parts such as bushes, trolley wheels as may be instructed through the works order.
  • Modifies components so that the machine/ equipment continues to operate like skimming of wheel drums when surface is not smooth.
  • Complies with all safety rules and procedures in order to mitigate and eliminate injuries at workplace.

Qualifications

  • Full Grade Twelve (12) Certificate with Five (05) Credits better.
  • Diploma or Craft Certificate in Machining

2.    PLANNING CLERK (1)

Job Purpose

To assist in planning, execution and supervision of all planned maintenance works and projects in order to provide maximum plant availability for sustainable production.

Duties and Responsibilities;

  • Collection and filling of all Engineering work documents such as dockets and MWOs
  • Updating of Engineering management systems, inclusive of garage system and Gas plant systems
  • Collection of all preventive maintenance checklist
  • Printing and distribution of daily maintenance checklists as per PM scheduled
  • Produces daily reports, breakdown and PM complianc
  • Raising maintenance work orders and defect dockets
  • Data collection on all Maintenance works throughout the plant
  • Updating and Issuing of Action plans for sections

  • 3 years’ work experience in Engineering Planning in a Mining or Manufacturing Industry.

3.    ARTISAN ELECTRICIAN (2)

Job Purpose

To carry out installations, troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance of all electrical equipment associated with SCAW Zambia Ltd in order to assure maximum availability, reliability and uptime of the equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Duties and Responsibilities;

  • Receives pre-shift instructions and daily work schedules from the supervisor in form of works orders and defects dockets in order to carry out works on the equipment and make it available for 95%.
  • Installs electrical equipment in compliance with standard code of electrical practices.
  • Carries out inspections, servicing and repairs of overhead industrial VSD driven cranes, high and low voltage switch gears, Induction furnaces, liquid starter WRIM motors, SCIM motors and all other electrical equipment such as pumps, conveyor belts, elevators, Heat treatment and Tempering furnaces. (Note that Knowledge in PLCs and Supervisory control is required)
  • Interprets both solid state and schematic electrical drawings and determines materials to be used on all electrical works.
  • Examines breakdowns and determines faults and best methods of repairing it by using electrical diagrams and relevant operating manuals.
  • Gives reports on progress of assigned jobs to the supervisor and report same in the log book for communication and reference purposes.
  • Complies with all safety rules, procedures and keep the working areas clean after the task.

4.    AUTO ELECTRICIAN (1)

Job Purpose

Auto Electrical requires a wide range of skills and knowledge to effectively diagnose, repair, and maintain various types Electrical systems of vehicles and machinery

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures all mobile machinery are fit and fully in operation to enable efficient movement of materials and employees. Able to understand and interpret electrical diagrams and symbols.
  • Diagnose and repair automotive electrical systems. Apply knowledge of automotive electronics, engines, and chassis. Install components, such as alternators, starter motors, and alternators. Install electrical components, such as horns, lights, and turn signals.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems on vehicles.
  • Perform maintenance on batteries and charging systems. Inspect and test electrical connections and components. Replace and install electrical connectors, relays, fuses, and circuit breakers.
  • Problem-solving abilities: Resourceful and have strong analytical skills to find solutions efficiently. Install and wire gauges, gauges, and other electrical components. Interpret Install, replace, and repair wiring and circuits. Insulate and wire electrical panels.
  • Connect electrical components, such as switches, starter solenoids, and starter solenoids.
  • Perform engine and driveline repairs. Insulate and wire engine compartment. Diagnostic skills:
  • Skilled in diagnosing complex issues by using diagnostic equipment, reading service manuals, and conducting tests.
  • Takes care of garage equipment to ensure provision of efficient maintenance and repair of vehicles. Ensures good housekeeping at the garage in order to create a safe work environment for mechanics.
  • Keeps records of all vehicles scheduled for maintenance and the respective job cards for accurate accountability of garage services provided.

5.    STORES KEEPER (2)

Job Purpose

To receive, tag, bin, issue out goods, raise Goods received note, submit documents to accounts for payment purposes.

Carryout random stock audit at least twice per week, identify fast moving items, suggest minimum & maximum stock levels for approval to enhance stock replenishments.

Duties and Responsibilities;

  • Prepares purchase requisitions for both local and foreign goods for replenishments while monitoring the mini/max stock levels.
  • Ensures 95% of physical bin to system bin compliance at all times
  • Process Goods Receipt Note immediately after the supplier(s) deliveries the stocks or services.
  • Always dip in the fuel tank to ascertain the level of fuel and initiate the ordering process when it reaches minimum level in order to avoid run-outs of fuel.
  • Clears all receipt queries within 24hours and make necessary follow-ups with everyone handling the queries.
  • Attends to all customers within 10 minutes of arrival in stores in order not to delay production and other services.
  • File all stores copies daily for future references.
  • Conducts bin maintenance and verification of bin locations in order to strengthen stores control.

Qualifications

  • Full Grade Twelve (12) Certificate with Five (05) Credits better.

  • Member of Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply or CIPS

Work Experience

  • Two (2) years in manufacturing industry
