GFA, one of Europe’s leading concultancy firms active in the international development cooperation, is currently looking for a senior TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) expert for the following project which is scheduled to start on 01.05.2023 for a period of 26 months. (Estimated input: 260 working dates devided between 3 to 5 experts.):

THRIVE is part of the German Development Cooperation (GDC) Programme “Water in Zambia”, which is currently being updated. The programme aims at integrated management of Zambia’s water resources and improved access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation. The Technical Cooperation project supports vocational training institutions (VTI) through labour market-oriented training and in-service training in the water and solar energy sector in cooperation with public and private companies. By improving the competencies of skilled workers, the new project creates important preconditions for the sustainability of sanitation and water supply as well as to the introduction of solar powered electricity supply systems and thus contributes to the impact logic of the GDC programme.

Tasks of Expert 5: Expert pool 1 ‘Senior national short-term experts’ with 3 to 5 experts

• Design of curricula and materials for training coursesupdating of curricula for craft level training courses incl. practical industry training and integration of solar energy in electrician course
• updating of curricula and/or development of additional curricula for short trainingcourses in the water and energy sector
• Training of trainersdevelopment of training of trainer manuals, incl. practical industry training components
• preparation and implementation of training of trainer courses for the qualification of VTI
• teachers for the above coursestraining of staff from private / public companies in practical industry training components
• Organizational development of partner VTIsdevelopment / updating of strategic and/or business plans of partner VTIs
• qualification of administrative and management personnel of partner VTIs in performing their tasks according to recognized procedures and standards
• Cooperation with industryfacilitation of enhanced collaboration between VTIs and private / public companies with regard to practical training components

Qualifications of the experts for expert pool 1

Each expert will be evaluated according to the following qualifications. The assignment of assessment points will be based on the average points for each criteria.

• Education/training: All experts with a university degree related to the tasks assumed by each expert
• Language: All experts with proficient language skills in English (level C1 according to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) and in one local language: Bemba and/or Nyanja and/or Tonga
• General professional experience: each expert with 10 years of experience related to the tasks assumed by each expert.
• Regional experience: Each expert with 6 years of work experience in Zambia and each with 2 years in the east and/or south African region (outside of Zambia)
• Development cooperation (DC) experience: each expert with 3 years of experience in DC projects
