Overall Job Purpose
As a key member of the Processing Technical team and reporting into the Plant Superintendent, the Business Management Information Coordinator provides organization, accessibility, visualization and distribution of relevant operating data to the process plant staff. The role has a focus on weekly-yearly optimisation. This role has a primary, medium-term focus on the Process Department Management Information Systems, a secondary, long-term focus on the coordination and leadership of the Site wide Management Information Systems.
Specific Job Responsibility
- The role accountabilities are on the management of the collection, warehouse, analytics and visualisation of process plant data, with the aim of improving the ability of the operational and technical staff to use the data relevant to their job leading to better informed decisions.
- Facilitate data acquisition, warehousing, accessibility, distribution and analytics.
- The role has the responsibility to develop and maintain the related data systems, either through the implementation of corporate-driven solutions, the involvement of contracted works or development of in-house, ad-hoc solutions.
- The role leads the identification, detailed planning and high quality execution of relevant data and systems projects; and requires autonomy and sufficient experience to develop, prioritise, document and track those projects on their own, with no technical guidance from superiors.
- In its longer-term focus, the role will develop with the help of other existing and new resources the structures, systems, and skills to lead to the development of a Site-Wide MIS unit, whose aim is to provide an integrated and holistic MIS solution.
- In its longer-term focus, this role will collaborate with other FQM sites to balance Site specific needs, Corporate integration and Knowledge Management and Sharing within Site and between Sites and Corporate.
- Directly participate in the weekly to yearly work activities of the Process, and later on, Site team to recommend further improvements with regards to data and systems through the understanding of team member’s needs;
- As part of the standard expected from any KML team member,
- Maintain HSE standards, promote them where possible, ensure all safety incidents are addressed & reported promptly and maintain a very high standard of general safety;
- Drive skills transfer and training, with the aim of increasing competencies and skillsets in senior and control room staff where possible in understanding how to use data,
- Control and reduce operational costs;
- Implement FQM Way culture – “Smarter, Bolder, Driven;”
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Process Management.
Job Specific Competencies
- Deep understanding of Metallurgical operations of a high throughput copper concentrator.
- Deep knowledge of plant control systems, advanced control system, data management systems and software packages i.e. SCADA, PLC’s, PI.
- Deep computer literacy.
- Deep Data programing and analytics understanding

Experience required to perform in this job
- Minimum 3 years working as a Data Analyst or related field
- Minimum 3 years appropriate experience in developing data projects;
- Experience in metallurgical process operations of a large copper concentrator highly regarded;
- Knowledge of Excel, VBA, SQL, Matlab, PowerBI required. SPSS, R, or other programming languages are a plus.
- Proven track record of data warehousing, collection analytics and visualisation
Qualifications
- Degree in Extractive Metallurgy, Mineral Processing or related field;
- Eligibility for membership of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ), and to hold legal appointment as defined by the Mining Regulations of Zambia.
